Police are hunting thieves who stole about $100,000 worth of rare jewellery from a Remuera home in a daylight burglary while the owner was out for 30 minutes.
The burglary is one of nine in the area in the past two weeks in which thieves have targeted jewellery. In total, 15 Remuera homes were burgled between November 21 and yesterday.
The thieves broke into the Upland Rd house between 11am and 11.30am on Monday, while the owner was out shopping.
They took jewellery, including rare and irreplaceable pieces, worth at least $100,000.
The homeowner, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that when she arrived home and found her door jemmied open, she was terrified.
