A property in Porirua has been cordoned off after a house was peppered with gunshots this morning.
Police were called to Westmeath St in Waitangirua about 5.15am, Inspector Marty Parker of police central communications said.
Residents reported hearing several loud bangs and an initial investigation indicated that a number of shots were fired at a property in the street, police said.
The investigation was ongoing and anyone with information was urged to contact Detective Sergeant Ben Quinn on 04 2381420.
