The huge fire which broke out at a rubbish transfer station in West Auckland has been put out.
Firefighters were called to a "major fire" at the Waitakere Refuse Transfer Station on The Concourse about 4.30pm today.
By about 6.20pm the flames had been put out but about four crews of firefighters remained at the scene dampening down hot spots.
Earlier, Firecomms tweeted a photo of the fire showing large plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
Seventy firefighters from 10 fire stations across Auckland battled the fire in Henderson.
