KEY POINTS:
Spotless Services is offering to lift its lockout of hospital cooks, cleaners and orderlies if the Service and Food Workers' Union agrees to rules for strikes.
The offer comes as the union is believed to be preparing to ramp up protest action, which has so far consisted of hospital picket lines. About 800 workers were locked out by Spotless after the union served a strike notice.
