KEY POINTS:
The days of wearing uncomfortable and embarrassing hospital pyjamas could be numbered for patients in Thames.
Staff at Thames Hospital have formed a 'patient nightwear group' with the aim of coming up with ways to improve hospital nightwear.
General Manager Jacqui Mitchell says many patients, especially elderly, feel embarrassed wearing hospital pyjamas. She says she has received so many complaints about the clothing, that it is time to take action.
She says the 'patient nightwear group' is conducting its own survey and will be sharing the results with District Health Boards across the country.
Ms Mitchell says the hospital will do anything it can to provide patients with dignity and that includes better fitting pyjamas.
