Firefighters battled an electrical fire at Auckland's Starship hospital last night.
The Auckland District Health Board's Ngare Buchanan said the fire started in the ceiling of a neurological ward. "It was contained and all the patients are safe," she said.
About a dozen patients were evacuated into a nearby vacant ward. They would stay there until the cause of the fire was established.
