KEY POINTS:
A special bedside court session was held in Waikato Hospital this morning for a man alleged to have fired several shots at police last week.
The 19-year-old Bay of Plenty man faced 10 charges, including attempted murder and firearms offences, relating to events during a chase from outside Rotorua that ended with the man being shot by police in Waihi.
He is recovering in hospital from injuries sustained when hit in the stomach from a single shot fired by police.
Granted interim name suppression, the man was remanded in custody to reappear in the Tauranga District Court on February 19, the same date as his female co-accused Yana Poata, 18, who also faces firearms charges.
