Two horses had to be sedated in order to be freed when their float flipped in Taranaki this morning.
The float was being towed by a car which crashed on East Rd near Stratford about 9.23am, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.
No-one in the vehicle was injured but the horses were trapped inside the float.
They were sedated and then freed, before being taken to a nearby paddock.
The horses were not thought to have been injured, but a vet was on their way to the scene to assess them.
