KEY POINTS:
A 16-year-old Eastern Bay of Plenty girl injured in a weekend horse riding accident remains in Tauranga Hospital.
The girl, from Opotiki, was taking part in a hunt at the remote Waikura Station, inland from Hicks Bay, on Saturday when she fell off her horse.
The horse then stood on her face causing serious injuries, rescue helicopter spokesman Liam Brettkelly said.
Waihau Bay St John Ambulance staff treated the girl before she was transferred to Tauranga Hospital by the Tauranga-based TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter.
Yesterday, hospital spokeswoman Carol Wollaston said the girl was in "an uncomfortable but stable" condition.
