The woman who survived a horror plunge down an Auckland cliff face along a popular scenic drive suffered broken bones, it has been revealed.
An Auckland District Health Board spokeswoman said the injured woman was now in a stable condition in Auckland City Hospital recovering from injuries which included several broken bones.
The accident happened around 3.30pm when the young woman fell around 45m from Cliff Rd in St Heliers.
Remarkably her fall was cushioned by scrub and undergrowth growing off the side of the steep cliff face.
Auckland Police Maritime Unit was used to ferry the badly injured woman to Mechanics Bay before she was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
