KEY POINTS:
Auckland Business School has taken a novel approach to introducing its students to the workplace by organising a `speed dating' event with potential employers. The event, which comprises of a brief interview between students and employers, takes place on Monday, April 28 at the Business School. It is the first of what will hopefully be many similar events.
HR and other representatives from 13 businesses, ranging from Fishpond to The Warehouse and Telecom, will conduct speed interviews with over thirty 3rd-year under-graduate and post-graduate students of the Auckland Business School's Information Systems and Operations Management Department (ISOM).
Both sides will have a speed dating card, which they will hand in at the end of the evening. Just like a real speed dating event, they will be informed if there is a `match' by email the next day. The candidate and prospective employer will then liaise directly on getting together for a formal interview.
The evening is scheduled to take place from 5.30pm to 7pm, followed by light refreshments. It is in L3, Room 310 (Decima Glenn), Owen G Glenn Building, 12 Grafton Rd.
