Thieves have stolen thousands of wedding and honeymoon shots from newlyweds holidaying in New Zealand.
United Kingdom couple Simon and Sabine Greenslade's campervan was burgled in the carpark outside Auckland Zoo on November 6 - the last day of their honeymoon.
A laptop containing shots from their wedding in Germany and their New Zealand holiday was taken, along with an iPod and months' worth of Ms Greenslade's computer programming work.
Mrs Greenslade says many of their memories from their wedding and time in New Zealand are now gone for good.
"Our first thought once we got in was the laptop is gone. The photos - everything is gone.
"We had a really nice holiday. We did so many nice things together. Took so many nice photos.
"Now the only pictures of our honeymoon in NZ that were left to us were pictures of giraffes, lions and Australian wildlife in Auckland Zoo."
The couple have a tradition of going to a zoo on the last day of their trips.
This time they returned to find thieves had ransacked their campervan, tearing out cupboards and removing cushions and furniture.
An appeal to police in the aftermath of the theft didn't produce any results, says Ms Greenslade.
"They simply gave us a crime reference number and left it at that."
The couple were able to get back to the United Kingdom that night with the help of Affordable Motorhomes staff, who replaced some of their missing gear.
Ms Greenlade says the "unfortunate end" to the honeymoon has not changed her opinion of New Zealand.
She is more concerned to see the return of her photos than any stolen gear.
"A laptop is an expensive thing to replace, but to be honest, we are more upset about all the wonderful pictures we had taken.
"Maybe someone is decent and at least copies them onto a disc and sends them to the Herald or a police station."
* The Herald's postal address is P.O. Box 32, Auckland.
