Honda New Zealand is urgently seeking Kiwi owners affected by its airbag recall, with around 6000 vehicles still outstanding.
The company had sent out letters to the affected owners, including New Zealand new and used imports of vehicles built from 2001 to 2003.
"We've followed them up with phone calls, but there are roughly 6000 vehicles outstanding," said Honda NZ's national service manager, Bryan Davis.
"It's an extremely serious situation and you can be injured [by the faulty airbags]."
The current Honda vehicles affected by the airbag recall are the Accord, Civic, Jazz and imported Fits and Streams.
Owners of the affected Honda can ring 0800 2 Honda and be put in touch with a service department.
