A police investigation into the stabbing of a teenage girl in a Wellington suburb has been upgraded to a homicide investigation after she died from her injuries.
Police were called to the Lower Hutt suburb of Naenae at 4.15pm on Sunday, where they found the injured 17-year-old girl.
She was taken to hospital but has since died.
A 39-year-old man remains in custody and police will be looking to lay further charges when he next appears in court.
Police would not comment further on the matter.
