KEY POINTS:
A homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Tauranga on Friday night.
Police were called to a residential address in Brookfield where a small amount of people had gathered.
Detective Inspector Rob Jones said a 29-year-old man from Papamoa was treated by ambulance staff at the scene for head injuries, then transported to Tauranga Hospital. He later died.
A post mortem examination will be carried out in Auckland today. Police are yet to make an arrest.
