Homicide inquiry launched after woman dies in Waikato Hospital

A 50-year-old woman who was assaulted in Hamilton earlier this week has died in hospital, sparking a homicide inquiry.

Police said Raewyn Green was found unconscious at an address on Pinfold Ave in Hamilton East on Monday night.

She was taken in a critical condition to Waikato Hospital, where she died on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant William Loughrin said a post-mortem examination conducted in Auckland revealed Ms Green sustained injuries consistent with an assault.

He said police were seeking information from the public about any sightings of a man and woman arguing on Monday afternoon or evening in the Pinfold Ave area.

They would also like to hear from anyone who had contact with Ms Green in the days and hours leading up to her admission to hospital.

A scene examination had been completed at the Pinfold Ave address and a number of people known to Ms Green have been spoken to.

Her family was being supported by Victim Support.
