Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 46-year-old Mangere man died this afternoon.
The man was admitted to hospital on Saturday night after an altercation at Nga Tapuwae Community Centre in Mangere.
Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Middleton said the man's condition deteriorated over the past couple of days and he died in hospital early this afternoon.
"At this stage we know that around 200 to 300 people attended the party and we have been working to ascertain who was at the party and how the man received his injuries."
A post mortem examination will be completed tomorrow.
Police are asking for anyone who was at the party to contact them.
