Power was cut to 250 homes and businesses in Masterton after a truck hit a power pole north of the town yesterday morning.
The driver of the truck escaped injury in the collision, which happened north of the Opaki overbridge on SH2 just before 8am.
A fire communications spokesman saidthe north-bound truck had been pulling an unladen heavy machinery trailer.
Powerco acting network operations manager Dean Stevenson said power was cut to the surrounding area and about 250 homes and businesses and was fully restored about midday.
The pole had been shunted on to a lean and traffic was slowed while the truck and trailer were taken away and the pole and line repaired. It is thought power was cut so repair work could be carried out.
