A man is in custody and two others are being sought after an armed gang smashed their way into a south Auckland house overnight and attacked the male occupant.
Police said the group, carrying a sawn-off double barrelled shotgun, burst into the Nola Crescent, Otara, house at 2.15am beating up the occupant before fleeing. No shots were fired.
The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed life threatening.
The armed offenders squad cordoned off Nola Crescent and nearby streets and a man was taken in custody and a weapon seized.
But police said they were still searching for two others.
They would not comment on the motive for the attack.
