KEY POINTS:
Two armed intruders burst into a home near Rotorua last night, demanding money and other items.
Police said the pair, one carrying a sawn off firearm, forced their way into the Ngongotaha house occupied by two men and a five-year-old child just after 10pm.
One of the occupants - a 61-year-old man - was knocked to the floor in a struggle, before the intruders fled empty-handed.
The injured man was treated in hospital.
The attackers were last seen getting in to a dark coloured vehicle, police said.
