A Christchurch mortgage broker who admitted ripping off a client for $160,000 was yesterday sentenced to home detention.
Darren Ian Askew pleaded guilty to three charges of theft by a person
in a special relationship, three of dishonestly using a document, and one of forgery.
Judge Colin Doherty sentenced him to nine months' home detention, 200
hours of community work and ordered reparation of $50,000 on top of the
$30,000 he had paid, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
