A destructive blaze has ripped through a home in Waimangaroa on the West Coast overnight.
Fire and Emergency southern communications shift manager Tim Reynolds said the alarm was raised around 11.20pm when flames were seen shooting from the home by a neighbour.
Four crews from Westport, Granity and Waimangaroa battled the blaze but could not save the property that was engulfed in fire.
Reynolds said there were no reports of anyone in the house when the fire broke out.
He said the cause of the blaze was unknown.
