Home damaged in Opotiki fire

A fire in Opotiki caused significant damage to a home this morning.

Fire communications shift manager Jarron Phillips said the fire started in a bedroom of the Union St home and spread to the roof.

He said a woman was home with a baby and several dogs but no one was injured.

Mr Phillips said the woman got out quickly but went back into rescue her dogs.
