Featherston youth worker Alan Maxwell is running a school holiday programme for Year 9 and older children, which starts today.
Mr Maxwell, South Wairarapa Anglican Parish youth worker, designed the programme because there was not a lot on offer in South Wairarapa for youth during the school break.
"There's always been catering for 5-12 year olds and not for teenagers, so I was just plugging a gap," he said.
The free holiday programme will be held this week and next, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to noon.
Tuesdays will be a cooking workshop run from Featherston School, where teenagers will learn to prepare, cook and then get to eat a meal.
