Archaeologist Ma'ara Maeva hosted a children's experimental archaeology session at Auckland Museum yesterday.
About 35 children enjoyed a hands-on opportunity to replicate traditional Maori tool-making methods, and Mr Maeva made a pump drill from chert, a type of quartz traditionally used in Maori tool-making.
