KEY POINTS:
Buyers keen to get their hands on special 60th anniversary models of the Holden Commodore SS V had better be quick - only 75 will be available in New Zealand.
The limited-edition sedans are based on the 6-litre V8 SS V four-door and will land here next month, complete with birthday add-ons such as 60th anniversary badging inside and out, 20-inch HSV alloys, rear parking sensors, sunroof, special-edition door handles, rear spoiler and a choice of three colours: Phantom, Atomic and Switchblade.
Seventy models will be come with six-speed sequential transmissions, five will get six-speed manual units. Price for both is $68,690.
Across the ditch, GM Holden is offering a wide range of anniversary models, including a special edition VE Commodore Ute, Captiva sports utility vehicle and Rodeo workhorse.
But it is not known if these will also be available here. How about the VE Ute? "No decision has been made yet," says Holden NZ corporate affairs' Brodie McClellan.
GM Holden took the covers off the special VE Ute at a motor show in Brisbane last month and will launch it in Australia next week.
It is based on the SV6 model variant and carries extra equipment including partial leather seat trim, aluminium facings for the foot pedals, a sports profile steering wheel, six-disc in-dash MP3-compatible CD stereo, and Bluetooth mobile phone integration. Like the SSV destined for here, it gets 60th anniversary floor mats and a decal for the tailgate.
