The dry weather across the country is set to continue for another 10 days when rain is forecast to finally arrive, according to WeatherWatch.
The forecaster said an anticyclone to the east of the country should slip away by next weekend, bringing moderate rain to most areas, with the exception of the deep south.
By March 1, the rain should be more concentrated on the North Island.
"It doesn't look overly heavy but if it does stick with us for two-three days it'll make a difference and a steady rain might see a few smiles return in rural areas," weather analyst Richard Green said.
"Because it's still over a week away these things can change and already we've seen this recently where it appears there's rain but it breaks up as the time gets nearer to the actual event."
