KEY POINTS:
Cement manufacturer Holcim New Zealand has been convicted over a death at Westport's Cape Foulwind cement works.
Raymond David Finn, 44, of Nelson, was crushed to death at Holcim's Cape Foulwind quarry on July 13 last year.
He was employed by a Holcim contractor, Brightwater Engineering.
Holcim's lawyer, Paul Rodgers, said the company admitted it had failed to take all practical steps to ensure Mr Finn was unharmed while doing maintenance work on the return conveyor of a crusher plant.
Department of Labour lawyer, Doug Taffs, said the department would be withdrawing a similar charge relating to another employee, Blair Ashley Luff.
Mr Luff was not injured but the company had been charged with exposing him to the same hazard.
Mr Taffs said the summary of facts would not be read until Holcim was sentenced on April 3. A victim impact report was being prepared.
