Wairarapa coach Richard Fenwick had mixed feelings over his team's 3-3 draw with Hawke's Bay at the national under-18 women's hockey tournament in Dunedin.
Fenwick was pleased to come away from their opening pool game with a point but disappointed that Hawke's Bay had been allowed to recover from a 3-1 deficit by scoring two "soft" goals in the last seven minutes of play.
"We were well in control until then?..we just slackened off on defence and they capitalised," Fenwick said. "It was a game we should have won so the result was frustrating in the end."
Wendy Hull had a strong game for Wairarapa as did Lily Parker and Laura Crawford. Hull was also amongst the goal scorers, along with Rebecca Blade and Holly Gaskin.
