Hitchhikers injured when car flips

A man and two female hitchhikers he had picked up only minutes before were injured when a soft-top four wheel drive vehicle flipped.

The man, 34, suffered minor injuries but the two women were more seriously hurt. All three were taken to Masterton Hospital.

One, aged 21, had whiplash injuries to her neck and the other, 20, received facial injuries.

The crash happened about 1pm on the Wairarapa side of Rimutaka Hill Road on Sunday as the vehicle was being driven from Featherston to the Hutt Valley.
