Hitch-hiker thumbs his way into court

Porirua police hit the jackpot when they picked up a hitch-hiker at Pauatahanui, 10km north-east of Porirua, yesterday.

After officers realised they had been seeking the 33-year-old man, they took him home and uncovered a large-scale indoor cannabis cultivation operation.

The man has been charged with cannabis offences.
