A teenager critically injured after a hit-and-run in Tokoroa last month has been discharged from hospital.
Schoolboy Seth Tera, 15, was allegedly chased for several blocks then hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle during a gang initiation on September 12 on Barberton St, Tokoroa on September 12.
Seth had no gang links, but just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, police said.
He suffered head and chest injuries and was left with tyre marks on his back.
Seth's parents, John and Liz Tera, said their son's care at Waikato Hospital was outstanding.
"We didn't know if we'd get our son back again and to be taking him home today is wonderful."
Dion Hugh Bolt, 18, has been charged with Seth's attempted murder.
A 17-year-old Mangakino man and an 18-year-old Rotorua man were charged with assault.
Police said further charges were likely and more arrests possible.
