Two more men have been arrested in relation to a hit-and-run that left a teenager fighting for his life in Tokoroa at the weekend.
A 17-year-old man from Mangakino and an 18-year-old man from Rotorua were arrested and charged with assault yesterday and will appear in Tokoroa District Court today, Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry said.
On Sunday, police arrested 18-year-old Dion Hugh Bolt and charged him with attempted murder after allegedly running down 15-year-old Seth Tera with a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Bolt is due to reappear in court on September 25.
Mr Verry said police had made "significant progress" and further charges were expected to be laid.
Seth was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition after he was run over at about 3am on Saturday in Baberton St, leaving him with tyre marks on his back.
Police had earlier said the incident was part of a gang initiation, and that Seth and his friends had no links to gang but were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
