A woman charged with killing a 15-year-old girl in a hit-and-run accident in Matata in the Bay of Plenty in August was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road with a breath-alcohol level of almost twice the legal limit.
Evidence handed up during a depositions hearing in Whakatane District Court yesterday said Karma Jasmine McIvor, 22, of Te Teko, allegedly veered on to the wrong side of the road, hitting Stevie-Rae Marks and two other girls who were walking near the grass verge.
McIvor faces charges of drink-driving causing death, drink-driving causing injury and failing to stop and ascertain injury.
