Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver after a mother of two was killed while riding her bike in Christchurch this morning.
Police said tonight that the driver left the scene after colliding with the 42-year-old victim at the intersection of Marshs and Springs Road in suburban Halswell, between 7am and 7.15am.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that she has been struck by a vehicle and the driver would be well aware they had hit something," Detective Sergeant Scott Anderson said.
He said police wanted to speak to the driver or anyone who saw the crash or has any information about the car or the driver.
Next of kin have been advised, but formal identification of the deceased from suburban Prebbleton was still to be carried out.
