Police believe the driver of a car who did not stop after clipping a cyclist in the Hutt Valley yesterday may not realise they were even involved.
Joel Healy was cycling to work at ACC on State Highway 58 near Moonshine Road, Haywards Hill, shortly before 8am when he was hit from behind.
The driver of the dark coloured 4WD vehicle had not yet come forward, Senior Sergeant Steve Sargent said.
Mr Healy, who regularly cycles from Paremata, near Porirua, into central Wellington and home again - a 60km round trip - suffered a broken arm and sprained both his wrists.
"I appreciate it was an accident, it was definitely not deliberate," Mr Healy told The Dominion Post.
"I think they probably were not paying attention."
