Hit-and-run driver may be unaware of crash - police

Porirua police say the hit-and-run driver who knocked a cyclist off his bike on Haywards Hill may not even be aware of the incident.

The cyclist is in a stable condition after being stuck just before eight o'clock this morning by a black four wheel drive.

Constable Kathryn Groube says the car didn't stop, but the driver may not have even known they hit the cyclist as it's thought he was clipped by the car's wing mirror.

She says it can be hard to tell you've made contact in a vehicle of that size.
