Hit and run victim Kayzah-Shae Wairama.
The man accused of a hit and run last week that left a five-year-old boy fighting for his life has appeared in court.
Joshua Manukapei Watson, 27, did not appear for his first court appearance yesterday.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police arrested Watson by his home about 9am today.
Watson is facing one charge of failing to stop to ascertain injury.
He did not enter a plea today and has been remanded on bail until September 10.
Police did not oppose bail.
He was ordered not to contact the young boy's family or go within 200 metres of Kingsley Rd, where the incident occurred last Tuesday.
The injured boy, Kayzah-Shae Wairama, was flown to Starship Hospital last week and placed in an induced coma.
Yesterday Kayzah-Shae was listed as stable and had been moved out of paediatric intensive care.
