A pictorial showcase of Wairarapa-Bush's rugby history is in safe keeping.
Photographs dating back to to at least 1893 (some of the undated ones may even be older than that) have been handed over to the Wairarapa Archives by the Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union (WBRFU), who are keen to see them retained for posterity.
WBRFU executive assistant Debby Castles said the union was aware of the importance of preserving the history of local rugby and the Wairarapa Archives was the best place for the photographs to be protected for generations to come.
She said it would also mean that people doing family tree researches of anyone involved in rugby here would have the opportunity to more easily build their knowledge of their record in that regard.
