A fire has torn through an historical library building in Northland this morning.
The blaze has damaged the Williams House library in Paihia, after the rear of the building caught fire around 4.40am, Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jarron Phillips said.
Fire crews and a specialist fire investigations unit were at the scene on Williams Rd to determine what had caused the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The historical building was the home of early missionary Rev Henry Williams, which is now used as a library.
