Meanwhile on the representative front the Wairarapa under-17s made a good start to their season by winning three of their four games at a tourney in Porirua and losing the other in extra time.
They beat Kapi Mana 15-11, Wellington Gold 17-14 and Kapiti 12-9 and drew with Wellington Black 16-16 in ordinary time before going down 3-1 in extra time.
Coach Robyn Schischka was delighted with the commitment shown by her side which was without captain and ace goal shoot Abby Hull, who was on duty with the Wellington development squad.
"The combinations got better as we went along, it was a good start for us," Schischka said.
"We couldn't have expected any more."
Two last minute replacements in Rachel Mawson and Kelsey Butcher both played well for Wairarapa as did Hope Phillips, Jesse Smith, Chanel Phillips and Sophie Ross.
