Maori opposed to the Government's foreshore and seabed policy are organising a march down the length of the North Island to Parliament.
The hikoi is due to leave Cape Reinga next Thursday and arrive in Wellington on May 5.
Organiser of the Far North leg of the march Hone Harawira said he was acting to protect future generations.
"To do less would be to surrender."
The march will pass through Ahipara, Kaitaia, Mangamuka, Kawakawa, Whangarei, Wellsford, Auckland, Huntly, Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Turangi, Raetihi, Wanganui, Levin, Otaki and Porirua.
