State Highway 1 near Warkworth will be closed tonight to remove wreckage of a large truck that crashed earlier today.
The truck and trailer unit crashed into a ditch, south of Pohuehue, a police spokesman said.
Diversions would be in place while the highway was closed for about two hours, until 9.30pm.
The vehicle went down a bank and into a ditch, the spokesman said.
It crashed far enough off the road that the road did not need to be closed during peak hours.
