High winds around Auckland and Northland caused powerlines to come down this morning.
Fire Service shift controller Jarron Phillips said a "handful" of calls had been coming in all morning with the latest in Belmont, on Auckland's North Shore.
"The lines are down on the road and people are driving over them," he said.
MetService is forecasting rain for Auckland and Northland over the next three days.
Wind gusts of up to 60km an hour were recorded in Auckland at about mid-day, according to the MetService website.
