KEY POINTS:
Two men with gang links have been arrested following a high-speed police pursuit on Auckland's southern motorway today.
At least five police cars were involved in the chase, which began when a vehicle was seen by a passing police patrol leaving a downtown address being chased by a man on foot.
The car did not stop when requested by police and set off south, leaving the motorway at Market Road, where the road had been spiked, and re-entering at the Ellerslie on-ramp with one flat tyre.
The vehicle continued on to Otara just past the East Tamaki on-ramp, 18km from the central city, where the driver lost control and clipped the median barrier.
Senior Sergeant Callum Bruce said nobody was hurt in the crash.
He said the men were believed to have links to the King Cobras gang.
The southern motorway heading south was down to two lanes for some time as emergency services cleared an oil spill.
Mr Bruce said two men were expected to be charged with failing to stop for police and reckless driving. He said they were also assisting police with enquiries into a reported burglary.
