An indoor hockey tournament to be held in Wairarapa on Sunday, December 7 is guaranteed to provide high quality action.
Wairarapa Hockey Association regional development officer Jeese Workman has organised the event and has already received entries from Hutt Valley, Manawatu, Wellington and Wairarapa.
Workman said a number of national indoor hockey reps would be participating in the event along with others who had played outdoors at national league level and worn the silver fern in age group competitions.
"It's the first event of its kind to be held here and if it goes well a national indoor tourney could be allocated to the Wairarapa as well," Workman said.
Workman is one of three players in the Wairarapa line-up with NHL experience, the others being Dane Lett and Cody Linton.
A fourth, Mark Scully, has also won squad selection there while Rowan Yeo is a Wellington under-21 rep. Tobyn Yeo and Shane Hodgkiss have played for the New Zealand under-16s and Thomas Annear is the current Wairarapa under-18 player of the year.
Other places in the Wairarapa team are still being contested through an extensive trial process with Workman confident they will have a side capable of taking the overall honours.
