Two major liquor companies say they will have their highest-alcohol ready-to-drink beverages off liquor store shelves by the end of the year.
Lion Nathan New Zealand says it will stop making McKenna 9 per cent alcohol bourbon (which contains 2.3 standard drinks) and Diesel 8 per cent 440 ml bourbon (which contains 2.8 standard drinks).
Rival company Independent Liquor said it was already phasing in the two standard drink limit.
