Central Otago Lakes District has the highest median price in New Zealand, according to figures from the Real Estate Institute.
The Central Otago Lakes real estate district had a median price in April 2005 of $395,000.
Last year the institute created the Central Otago Lakes District encompassing Queenstown, Wanaka, Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Kingston and Roxburgh. Previously, most of the real estate activity in those areas had been added to Southland statistics, boosting that area annually by tens of millions of dollars.
Auckland had the second highest median price of $369,000, followed by Wellington - $275,000, Nelson - 269,000 and Waikato-Bay of Plenty - $244,000.
