Act leader Rodney Hide has expressed misgivings about the return of former deputy leader Heather Roy to Parliament, after saying last week she would be welcome back.
He suggested yesterday that she would find it difficult to answer media questions about the leaked dossier prepared for a caucus meeting that removed her as deputy last week, and from her portfolios. She took leave then for two weeks.
Mr Hide said at the time that he had not read the dossier. But since having done so, and after yesterday's ordinary caucus meeting, he appeared to be changing his tune.
"Heather has been a great MP but unfortunately with that document being leaked, I think the media are going to have questions for her and how it all happened and we haven't had answers to all those yet either."
Asked if there was a way back for Mrs Roy, Mr Hide said: "That is something we are considering and Heather will need to consider because I think it is quite tough the questions that will be asked of her."
Mrs Roy last night said that she intended to return as an Act MP and had not heard anything contrary from her caucus.
