Easter shop trading hours and covered swimming pools are about to be reviewed as part of Rodney Hide's plans to do away with bureaucracy.
The Minister for Regulatory Reform has ordered a review into what he views as silly rules and regulations that drive people crazy.
Mr Hide says rules concerning backyard pools are far too complex and impose ridiculous costs on families. He believes councils are interpreting the current rules differently causing great confusion.
Mr Hide says pool rules cause huge frustration and while the issue is not one about the need to fence pools, there is a need to make the rules clearer.
Mr Hide says Easter shop trading hours are also ridiculous, as the law allows some shops to open, but not others.
